About the TWCF

The Third World Conference was started in Illinois in 1973 as a workshop and grew into an international conference over the next decade. In 1983, the Third World Conference Foundation (TWCF) was founded in Chicago as a nonprofit nonpartisan diverse group of educators and professionals to guide its growth.

TWCF has engaged the challenges of development and is a place to find practical and workable solutions to key issues and problems in developing and developed societies from an interdisciplinary and intercultural perspective. TWCF analyses, conferences, publications and related activities reflect the commitment to peace, social change and justice. From the very beginning, TWCF has attracted the most innovative scholars, policy makers, activists and leaders who share our mission and vision.
