Paper Submission Requirements

It is imperative that all authors adhere to the requirements during the submittal process for papers to ensure consistency and correct formatting. Doing otherwise may decrease the likelihood of your paper being included in the proceedings. Please proofread the manuscript prior to mailing. The following procedures should be used when submitting manuscripts for the Proceedings of the Third World Conference:

All materials must be typed single-spaced on 8.5 x 11 inch paper with 1-inch margins. Microsoft Word 6.0 or higher is the required word processing program and Times Roman, with an 11 pitch, is the required font. Three copies of your manuscript in letter-quality printing should accompany a copy of your paper on an IBM compatible 3.5- inch floppy disk. Please indicate in a separate cover letter, the exact word-processing program used to prepare your manuscript. Do not number any of the pages of the document.

The first page of the paper must be the "Title Page" containing:

  • The exact title of the paper.
  • The following presentation details:
The conference at which the paper was presented and the date and location of the conference. ie. "Presented at the 31st Annual Third World Conference, March 24-26, 2004, Chicago, IL, USA"

  • The author's name, title, institutional affiliation, department and contact information. This information should be suitably capitalized, centered and spaced on the page.

  • An Abstract of the work, no less than one complete eight-lined paragraph and no more than one page length, should be included immediately following the "Title Page." It should be clearly headed as an Abstract and include the complete title of the document.

  • The body of the paper should be no more than 20 typewritten, single-spaced pages altogether, including references, footnotes tables and illustrations. (The abstract is not included in this total.)

Footnotes and Bibliography
Footnotes should be single-spaced, and arranged in numerical order on a separate page at the end of the paper. Under the heading "Selected Bibliography" list, in standard footnote form, all sources and references used in writing the paper.

Illustrations and Charts
Charts and figures should follow the same requirements as the remainder of the paper, including the same word-processing program, font and pitch. It is also required that the charts be created in a format that allows them to be easily copied. Line drawings should be in a form suitable for reproduction, drawn in Indian Ink, on drawing paper. They should preferably all require the same degree of reduction, and should be submitted on paper of the same size, or smaller than the main text to prevent damage in transit. Photographs should be submitted as clear, black-and-white prints on glossy paper. Each illustration must be clearly numbered. Legends to tables and illustrations should be numbered consecutively and separately throughout the paper.

Deadlines
Papers are due by July 31 of the conference year. Please submit three copies of your completed paper, with at least one hard copy meeting the required format, and one copy of the same paper on an IBM compatible 3.5-inch floppy disk properly wrapped for mailing. Please indicate the version of Microsoft Word used in preparing the paper in a separate cover sheet. All papers must be convertible to Microsoft Word 6.0. Sorry, no exceptions permitted.
